4 Spring Cleaning Tips for Busy Parents

Feb 16, 2021 | Lifestyle

Parents are busy. Always busy. Multi-tasking is second nature to you. When you have kids to take to practice, dinner to be cooked, homework to be finished, cleaning can get put on the back burner. Here are a few tips to help you tackle spring cleaning like a pro:

A Room a Day

Plan to clean one room a day. Starting small makes deep cleaning your whole house seem like not such a big task. It might take a week or two but then your whole house will be thoroughly cleaned and won’t need to be deep cleaned for awhile!

Tidy then Clean

Organize everything before you clean. Put away everything and purge items that are not needed anymore. If you are a Marie Kondo fan, purge any items that “Don’t bring you joy”. When you start in a room, start from the “top” to the “bottom”. So if you have a ceiling fan, dust. Dust all baseboards and walls and then clean the floors. Clean every single surface. Here are a few examples of what to deep clean that you might be forgetting about:

Bedroom: Freshen mattress, clean curtains, wash windows, polish furniture, dust lamp shades, move furniture and mop/vacuum floors.

Bathroom: Clean shower curtain, wash cabinets, clean outside of toilet, clean trashcan and vacuum vents.

Kitchen: Clean out all appliances, wipe out inside of cabinets, wipe down outside of cabinets, dust furniture and decor.

Create a weekly routine

Making your bed, laundry, loading the dishwasher, wiping down counters, and just pickings toys up are some examples of tasks that should be on your daily cleaning list. Vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, and mopping are examples of weekly tasks. Each family’s list is going to look different depending on your needs. Make a routine that works best for you and your fam jam!
