A Visit to Steel City Pops in Garland, Texas
This week we’d like to invite you to visit our store in Garland, Texas. Come on in, pull up a bar stool, grab a delicious pop, and meet some of the team at the store who make Steel City Pops in Garland, TX, a wonderful experience!
SCP: What makes the community in the Garland area great?
Jonathan Veazey, General Manager: Garland, Texas, is a simple place but the people are in no way simple. Our community is made up of a wide variety of people from all sorts of backgrounds. In the midst of this diversity, there is an underlying sense of neighborliness and pride for our city.
Kinsey Everett, SCP Team Member: Our community here is so great because the SCP team members all have an inclusive and caring heart that creates a family. When customers come in they feel comfortable and welcomed as if they are a part of the family. Customers know they will be treated well and get a great treat, so the environment is always positive between customers and the SCP team.
Shelby Callison, SCP Team Member: Garland is an intimate location in the fact that you know a lot of the customers that come in, either through previous friendships or new ones that have developed on the job. Steel City Pops works hard to create an atmosphere that allows customers to interact with the employees instead of just coming in solely to get a pop and leave.
SCP: Where are you located and what makes your store unique?
Jonathan: The Garland Store is located in Firewheel Town Center, an outdoor shopping mall located at the intersection of President George Bush Turnpike and Highway 78. The name “Firewheel” comes from a popular golf course nearby, which is named after a flower that grows naturally in the area.
Kinsey: We’re located in the Firewheel mall, right in the center of a lot of great restaurants like TGI Friday’s, Razzoo’s, Gloria’s, and many more. The movie theater is also located at the end of our street. Our store is the perfect stop before and after a movie or after a great meal at the restaurants around us. A dull moment is rare!
SCP: What do you enjoy most about your job?
Shelby: I really enjoy getting to know and serve the people that come into the store. I love getting to interact with customers and learning more about them while I’m working. It doesn’t really seem like a job! I also love the community of the employees that we’ve developed. To us it feels like a tight knit family. We try to encourage each other and make sure that everyone’s on the right track.
Jonathan: My first experience working at Steel City Pops was at the Dallas store in the summer of 2014. So it’s been really cool to see SCP come to my hometown. I grew up in Garland, so it’s something special for me to see smiles on the faces of my family, friends, and neighbors when they enjoy a pop!
SCP: What would you say to someone who has never visited the store and tried a pop?
Shelby: I would tell them that we are unique in that we don’t serve your normal Popsicle. It’s a place where you can find unique flavors that change seasonally so it keeps you coming back to try out the newest flavor. We want to do everything in our power to make the customer happy and to meet their needs.
Kinsey: For anyone who hasn’t tried our pops I would suggest that they should, and not just because so many others have tried our pops, but because we have so many different kinds of pops anyone can find a flavor that will be a favorite. Treats are necessary for life and these pops are a great! Our pops are decently healthy so there’s no regret and guilt with this treat!
SCP: What are your favorite pop flavors?
Kinsey: My favorite flavor is the Lavender Lemonade. The lemon and lavender in this pop make it refreshing and relaxing, all in one. It’s great!
Shelby: My favorite fruity flavor is the raspberry lemon and my favorite creamy flavor is the coconut.
Jonathan: My favorite flavor is root beer!
