In the south, fall Saturdays usually mean one thing: football. If your team isn’t playing on a Saturday or miss tailgating, there are still plenty of fun things to spend your weekend.
- Host a potluck with your friends
One of the best parts of tailgating? The food. Just because you don’t have a game to watch doesn’t mean you can’t get together with friends to enjoy a meal. You could keep the potluck football-themed with your favorite tailgate snacks, or you could branch out of your comfort zone and “assign” new recipes for everyone to try. If cooking isn’t your thing, have everyone bring dishes from their favorite local restaurant. Don’t forget dessert- we may know a guy!
- Grab a to-go coffee and take a walk
Fall means the weather is finally perfect for grabbing a hot coffee or cup of tea and walking around outside. Pick up a drink from your go-to coffee shop and walk around town. Turn on your favorite podcast or playlist, or meet up with a friend for a walk. You’ll get to explore places you’ve never been, support local, and take a break from making your own coffee.
- Start a new project
You know all of those ideas you have that you’ll get to when you have time? Take advantage of a free Saturday and get started! Whether you’re reorganizing a room, pursuing a creative passion, or taking a free online course, you’ll be glad you used your free Saturday to begin. Plus, after a busy day learning something new, you’ll enjoy your Saturday night Netflix session even more.
- Settle in with a new book or movie
If the weather is looking too gray and rainy to spend any time outside, settle in with a new book or movie and have a cozy day inside. Make a pillow fort in your living room, light a few candles, and make sure you have plenty of delicious food.
If you’re missing football Saturdays, we’re right there with you! But even though you can’t spend the day tailgating, you can still make the most of your weekends.
