Top 10 Events of the Summer

If you have been around Alabama or DFW, you might have seen one of our carts around town; either at a wedding, festival, or local market. Catering events started out as a way to serve our customers. It was only natural to come to you, where you are. We love it because it allows us to connect with each community we are a part of in a very unique way.

As Summer 2015 is winding down, we wanted to take a minute to look back on some great events that we had the opportunity to take part in this year. These are 10 of our favorites, in no particular order:

1 | Pepper Place Farmer’s Market - Birmingham

An amazing market in the center of downtown Birmingham, this was the very first event we participated in and has been a staple for 4 seasons now. Cooking Light magazine rated Pepper Place as one of the top 50 farmer’s markets in America.

2 | Friday on the Green - Fort Worth

Friday on the Green features the region’s best live music, tasty food and drinks from Near Southside eateries, and the fun and relaxed atmosphere of a big neighborhood picnic. Groups of families and friends show up with blankets, chairs and pets to enjoy a lineup of three great local bands and food from local businesses or food trucks, beer and wine.

3 | Deep Ellum Outdoor Market - Dallas

Deep Ellum is Dallas’ neighborhood for eclectic food and entertainment and is host to one of Dallas’ best outdoor markets. The market operates like a farmer’s market, and they add to the market by hosting live music. Another reason we love Deep Ellum is that they bring in other local, hand-made items. Primarily operating in the Summer months, pops are a hit for shoppers.

4 | Sloss Fest - Birmingham

The Sloss Music & Arts Festival is a two-day music and lifestyle event taking place at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark. This festival brings, not only great music to Birmingham, but also highlights the regional craft beer, specialty cocktail scene and a selection of incredible food. This event’s creative culture helps show what makes life in Birmingham so special, and why we love to be there.

5 | Reunion Tower Lawn Party - Dallas

Located beneath the iconic globe of Dallas’ skyline (which you can find on the mural in our shop off Lower Greenville), the Reunion Tower Lawn Party draws live music, food trucks, beer gardens and lawn games like corn hole. With occasional appearances from the likes of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, this is an event that is sure to deliver a good time; plus, its free to attend!

6 | Kimbell Arts Fest - Fort Worth

The Kimbell Arts Fest is a yearly event that focuses on a different country each year. This year was Scotland, and we had a blast being a part of it! From innovative art activities, face painting, films, cultural performances and demonstrations, and exciting live music by Texas musicians on the Museum’s celebrated lawn.

7 | til’ Midnight at the Nasher - Dallas

Located on the expansive back lawn of one of Dallas’ most well known art and sculpture galleries, this event draws people of all kinds to enjoy a night of live music, an old movie projected onto a huge screen and of course, dinner, drinks, and dessert. Many people bring blankets and picnic baskets to this event and pops have become a staple for event goers.

8 | Singleton Wedding - Fort Worth

All of the weddings we have the opportunity to be at are truly special, and we are thankful to be a part of them. The Singleton wedding stuck out to us this year because of the great venue it offered, and the amazing view. The Singleton wedding took place in the outskirts of Fort Worth in a town called Tolar. The beautiful Texas landscape offered a great backdrop for a special day!

9 | Keller Farmer’s Market - Fort Worth

The Keller Farmer’s Market is a casual, open air, seasonal market at Keller Town Hall that offers fresh Texas produce, and much more. Everything at the market is from Texas or within 150 miles of the market, to ensure that we are offering local food. Being a part of local markets that put an emphasis on local is huge for us. We are proud that we make all of our pops for the Fort Worth area, in Fort Worth, and local markets, like KFM, are places we get to connect with other local makers and farmers.

10 | Trucks by the Tracks at Railroad Park - Birmingham

Railroad Park is a 19 acre green space in downtown Birmingham that celebrates the industrial and artistic heritage of our great city. The park is a joint effort between the City of Birmingham and the Railroad Park Foundation. Hailed as “Birmingham’s Living Room,” Railroad Park provides a historically rich venue for local recreation, family activities, concerts, and cultural events.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped put all of these events on, and each of the other events we participate in throughout the year. As you are planning your next event, we would love to be a part of it. So, next time you are in the shop, be sure to ask about our catering and vending!
